LEAD ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - £60 PER HOUR - FUNCTIONAL SAFETY EXPERIENCE - 6/12 MONTHS - STONE, STAFFORDSHIRE - UNDERGO SC
Yolk Recruitment are recruiting for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our client on an initial 12 month contract working from their major site in Stone.
Summary of Role:
- Lead and manage the project team.
- Review and approve the team's designs.
- Ensure team compliance with established procedures, methods, and standards, focusing on engineering design responsibilities.
- Interpret and verify customer-supplied data, specifications, and drawings.
- Develop system designs based on customer information.
- Create and modify Design Packs, including system drawings, general arrangements, schematics, wiring diagrams, and site cable drawings.
- Produce client design and test documentation.
- Prepare all necessary documentation to support system production, such as Functional Design Specifications (FDS), test documents, and manuals.
- Lead site surveys and assist in preparing Health and Safety Documentation.
- Support site acceptance testing and commissioning.
- Aid in the production of tender documents and cost estimates.
Essential Skills:
- Experience and proficiency in control systems within the nuclear market or a regulated industry.
- Competence in field cabling systems (power, instrumentation, control, and communications), including surveying, route identification, and cable sizing and earthing/protection calculations.
- Experience in control panel design incorporating PLC, I/O, communications cards, UPS, etc.
- Minimum of a degree in a relevant subject or an HND with additional experience, ideally with 5 years post-graduate or HND experience in successful project implementation.
- Proficiency in Word, AutoCAD, and Excel.
- Methodical approach to interpreting customer requirements and delivering project documentation.
- Understanding of the full project lifecycle.
- Possession of a current full UK driving license or the ability to easily convert to a full UK license.
- Willingness to mentor junior engineers, guide their professional growth, and peer-review their work.
Desirable Skills:
Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating some or all of the following:
- Specialist or extended knowledge in one of the following:
- Rockwell (Control Logix)
- Siemens (PC7S, TIA Portal)
- Schneider (M580, M340)
- Experience with Motor Control Centres, including specification, procurement, and installation.
- Awareness or understanding of DSEAR Regulations and hazardous area applications.
- Awareness or understanding of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511).
- Site installation and commissioning experience with control systems.
- Good understanding of BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Ability to meet deadlines and budgets.
- Familiarity with databases.
- Willingness to undergo security clearance checks
